a bit of thought from a guy and his girl, "Standing Before the Face of God" …

– Wednesday, February 3, 2011 –

Another great day in Israel. We spent the majority of our time in and around the Old City of Jerusalem. We toured the Western or Wailing Wall area and the Western Wall Tunnel. This is the most sacred site in current Judiasm as it’s the only accessibly remaining sites of the “true” old city in the time of Herod’s Temple (the one Jesus was at). Be sure to check out the video I have from the Wall below. I also have pictures from the tunnel too.

We also went to the Temple Institute, to learn and see what actually was in the Temple, who are rebuilding the Temple pieces that will go into the Temple once it’s rebuilt on the Temple Mount (which means the current mosque would have to be destroied…..yes, this is where all the terrorism & wars and ugly stuff would come into picture). Following this we headed to the Jerusalem Archaeological Park. Let’s just say, I was in heaven! We saw the steps that Jesus most likely would have taken in his life to enter the Temple Mount, the roads uncovered around the temple walls, ritual cleansing baths, and houses. Just a great experience and perspective during the time of Jesus. We also got to go to the Jewish/Israeli Holocaust Museum and the Israeli Museum. We didn’t have nearly enough time. I honestly could have spent 5+ hours in each, there was so much information and exhibits. Regardless of your familiarity or interest in either of the museums topics, you would have been captivated by something.

Well, I hope you enjoy the video below! Here are today’s pictures!

So, the time to write a big blog is unfortunately just not available.  Our days are 10+ hours of touring, so when we get back to the hotel, it’s very difficult to go in-depth with details. However, I feel I should add details and descriptions so that those of you not here can understand what you’re seeing in the videos and the pictures; additionally, I want to remember the specifics years from now when I look back. Therefore, with that thought, I’ve already told Jen that she’s going to sit with me as I provide details and descriptions to each picture in the coming weeks.

With that said, I’ll leave you with a basic layout of what we did and where we went. If I don’t provide enough information, shoot me an email, Facebook message, IM, text, phone call, etc.!

Therefore, here was our lineup today: West Bank: Bethlehem – Church of the Nativity (where Jesus was born) & Shepard’s Field, Mt. Scopus, Mt. of Olives, Garden of Gethsemane, Jerusalem’s Old City – Muslim Quarter Bazaar.

As always, thanks for stopping by, I hope you enjoy the PHOTOS and videos! Also, you can always get to my Photo Albums by clicking the link at the top of the page that says “PHOTOS”.

A Muslim minaret calling the Muslims to prayer…5 times a day, all over the country. There’s not just Jews and Christians here but many Arabs whom are also Muslim.

A view of the area that would have been contained within the Garden of Gethesemane at the foot of the Mount of Olives. It also looks similar to the one that Jesus was praying in the night he was turned over to the Jews before his death on the cross.
