Well, 2+ years after the most advanced cell phone hit the market, AT&T has finally released a statement regarding when iPhone users will be able to use the MMS feature (picture messaging) just like almost everybody else with some type of messaging phone (and without using a hack like Jailbreaking):
We know many of our iPhone customers are eager for an update on our rollout schedule for Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS). We’ve been working for the past several months to prepare our systems and network to ensure the best possible experience with MMS when it launches – and that launch date is: September 25 for iPhone 3G and 3GS customers. MMS will be enabled through a software update on that day.
As most of the hard-core iPhone users already know, MMS will only be available on the 3G and 3GS versions of the phone. That’s sure to make original iPhone users want to purchase a new 3GS to keep up with the Jones, or they realistically think to themselves: ‘My phone’s still the 3rd most feature friendly phone on the market, I can wait a bit longer!’.
That’s sure some exciting news, you can bet @WJFuoco will be updating his iPhone OS on 9/25! Now onto network tethering support from AT&T!
