As you’ve probably heard by now, the Miss USA pageant just took place, and all eyes remain on the runner-up, Miss California, Carrie Prejean.\u00a0 The reason being is she was asked by celebrity gossip blogger Perez Hilton – “Vermont recently became the fourth state to legalise same-sex marriage. Do you think every state should follow suit? Why or why not?” Prejean, 21 and a student at <\/span>San Diego Christian College,<\/span> responded by saying that she believed marriage should only be between a man and a woman.\u00a0 Then, the rest is history, Perez who is a homosexual, verbally lashed out at Prejean for her remarks and said the reason she lost (2nd place) was because of her answer.\u00a0 And yada yada yada, people have been debating the answer and it’s become a political storm.<\/span><\/p>\n

So who’s right, who’s wrong, was the question just, was the answer right on?\u00a0 Really….does it matter at this point?\u00a0 Seriously……does it really matter?<\/span><\/p>\n

This entire tirade shows exactly what’s wrong with America and there’s no better example than the Miss USA<\/strong><\/span> pageant!<\/span><\/p>\n

Here’s my point:<\/span><\/p>\n

Hilton has lashed out extensively over the answer, calling Miss California everything in the book relating to a homophobic, bigot, etc. (those are my words, not his, as I won’t repeat the things he’s said). Hilton openly admits that Miss California lost the contest because he didn’t agree with her answer.\u00a0 But this is a beauty pageant, it’s not a debate.\u00a0 Shouldn’t questions to Miss USA contestants not be about political views (this isn’t political office) but rather, how to bring the country together, strengthen, and to represent the USA?\u00a0 Rather than focusing on the true point of the Miss USA pageant, it was made divisive to further a cause\/agenda.<\/span><\/p>\n

Moreover, this article from Fox News, written by <\/span>Joshua Rhett Miller, really made me disappointed in a few contestants: “Miss California’s Competitors From Gay Marriage States Say She Needed to Be PC<\/a>“<\/span><\/p>\n

Really, you need to be PC (politically correct)?!\u00a0 Is that what we’ve come to?\u00a0 Don’t stand for what you believe, but, as Miss Massachusetts put it: “Had she gone the other way with the question, she might have won,” Miss Massachusetts said. “I’m surprised that she would say it, knowing the demographic she was speaking to<\/span>.”<\/span><\/p>\n

As the Aaron Tippin country song You’ve Got To Stand For Something goes “You’ve got to stand for something, or you’ll fall for anything.”\u00a0 (hmmmm I’m thinking of a Song of the Moment here!)<\/span><\/p>\n

Do you really want a Miss USA that will say anything to any group, or would you rather have one that gave you her honest answer.\u00a0 Heck, if she would say whatever you wanted, what’s the point of asking the question?
\n <\/span><\/p>\n

Shouldn’t the appropriate question from Hilton, as he’s concerned about gay rights, have been something such as – What do you believe needs to be done to help facilitate harmonious relations between the gay community and those in opposition to homosexual marriage?<\/span><\/p>\n

See, this is what’s wrong with America, the political correctness which is encouraged, regardless of true beliefs which are told to be put on the shelf.\u00a0 American’s are selling out their values for temporary gains. <\/span><\/p>\n

Thanks Miss California for standing up for what you believe in!\u00a0 Political correctness doesn’t do the country or the world one bit of good.\u00a0 The people that can stand for something and foster true relationships to enhance and encourage civil dicussions will be the ones needed to lead the USA into the future, unlike Perez Hilton and the contestants interviewed in the article <\/span>on Fox News.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
